Various league tables are now in the national press. Please can we remind you that the GCSE scores can no longer be compared to previous years. To show how misleading some of these reports are, we, as a school for example will appear to have a lower English Baccalaureate result compared to some schools This is because we do not force our students to follow this set of examined subjects. This decision was made to allow students greater choice when choosing their GCSE options. This in turn lowers our P8 (Progress 8) score. Perhaps, much more importantly, none of this has any impact on any individual student’s results. It is also worth noting how well we have done at `A` Level. The way in which the A level scores are calculated have not changed significantly and thus can be compared to previous years.
