In recognition of our excellent work in Science through teaching both our own students and students in some of our feeder schools we have been chosen by STEM Learning, a national organisation to promote young people`s interest and attainment in STEM subjects, to be the lead school in Sutton in a new two year partnership with industry.

What is STEM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and refers to any subjects that fall under these four disciplines. The acronym originates from discussions about the lack of qualified graduates to work in high-tech jobs in the USA. Since its creation, governments and universities around the world, including the UK, have made attracting students to STEM courses a priority.

Therefore we will be working with several other local schools, both secondary and primary to increase awareness and develop a sense of excitement amongst students about the potential opportunities that exist for them in STEM-related careers. This is an excellent opportunity for our students and is recognition of the achievements of the Science department over recent years. More details will gradually appear on our website and in this Newsletter over the coming months.
