Student Health & Wellbeing
At Overton Grange School we work towards positive Emotional Health and Wellbeing in the whole of our school community. We believe that happy students and staff learn well and are more confident and more motivated.
We want to promote a culture of being able to share concerns – so that all members of the school community feel valued and supported. We do this through:
All interactions between staff and students
All interactions between school and home

Mental Health in Schools Trailblazer Pilot
Overton Grange is taking part in a new project to improve mental health for children and young people. We have been selected as one of around 70 schools in South West London to be part of a pilot receiving extra resources to support our students with their mental health and emotional resilience. This is linked to a national initiative following the Government’s Green Paper on children and young people’s mental health. South West London will receive £1.85m and will be part of the first wave of these new services. We are working with the other schools in Sutton, as well as GPs and mental health professionals, to oversee the project in our area. More information about this project can be found here.
The Pilot means that we will have access to school-based support workers who will offer both one-to-one support and group work sessions for our students, parents and carers and, where needed, signpost or refer to specialist children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS). The sessions will give children and young people practical skills for managing a range of feelings and offer parents and carers an opportunity to practise the conversations that encourage better mental health and wellbeing. An Application Form can be found here.
